Miranda: Les Schwab Athlete of the Month
|
Miranda is a 13 year old who plays on a local house league Girls Hockey Team (she is the Captain), as well as a Travel / Rep Team that is all girls that play in tournaments against other elite girls teams from California to Canada. Miranda has 43 goals so far this year, and leads our Travel Team (part of the elite NW Girls Hockey Program - NW Selects) - to a 2nd Place Finish in a tournament in British Columbia. Miranda's team, the NW Selects, lost in the championship game 1-0 after winning all of their games en route to the championship game (Miranda won MVP for the game). The NW Selects were the only American team in a pool of 10 teams in this particular tournament. Candace Scott with the NW Selects as well as the local Portland Jr. Hawks Girls Hockey Program, Miranda's coach, loves the fact that she is a leader by example, giving her all every game and leaving it all on the ice. In keeping our priorities straight, it is important to mention that Miranda just received a 4.0 on her latest report card. Her goal is to play college hockey for the University of North Dakota or the University of Wisconsin, as well as the Womens Olympic Team. In her spare time she plays on a travel softball team, and swims with her sister, Kayleigh.
